Here you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions about your stay at Hotel & Restaurant Sonne Fex.
Arrival is possible in the morning until 11.15 with luggage storage at the hotel, or in the afternoon from 15.15 onwards. Your room will be ready from 15.00. Latest check-in is at 20.00. Should you arrive in Sils around midday, you are welcome to leave your luggage at Restaurant Passarella and make your way into the Fex Valley on foot.
Please vacate your room by 10.30 at the latest. The last morning transport to Sils departs at 11.00, with the next available from 15.00 in the afternoon. Alternatively, we can take your luggage to Sils and leave it at Restaurant Passarella – allowing you to make your way back on foot or by carriage at your own leisure.
As the Fex Valley is a protected natural area, vehicle traffic is strictly limited. Please park your car in the public car park in Sils-Maria. A long-stay ticket can be purchased at the payment machine upon arrival (fee applies).
Once you have arrived in Sils-Maria, simply give us a call – our driver will pick you up directly at your car in the car park. This service is complimentary for arrival and departure. Tel. 081 826 53 73
A complimentary daily shuttle service runs according to a fixed schedule: departing Sonne Fex at 9.30 am towards Sils-Maria, and returning to the Fex Valley at 4.00 pm and 5.40 pm from Post Sils-Maria.
Transfers outside the regular shuttle times are charged at CHF 25.– per journey. No transfer service is available after 10.00 pm.
Our reception is staffed daily from 8.30 am to 8 pm. During these hours, we are happy to assist with planning excursions and activities in the region as well.
Complimentary Wi-Fi is available to all guests.

We want to become more sustainable and contribute to the protection and preservation of the unique natural landscape of the Fex Valley. Help us make a difference!
Transfer – As the Fex Valley is a protected natural area, motorised traffic is strictly limited. Only residents, suppliers and staff are granted a driving permit. For this reason, we offer our hotel guests a daily shuttle service according to a fixed timetable, and kindly ask you to plan your day accordingly. Together we can avoid unnecessary journeys and keep CO₂ emissions at a manageable level. Thank you!
Regional & Seasonal – Wherever possible, we source our ingredients locally and adapt our menu to what is in season. Breakfast features homemade jams made from hand-picked fruits from the Fex forest and the nearby Bergell valley. Our honey comes from the Gianotti family's bee colonies in the Bergell, the cheese from our neighbours the Zellweger family at Crasta Farm and the LESA dairy in Bever, and our meat and charcuterie from Zanetti butcher's in the Valposchiavo.
Tap Water – Did you know that the Fex Valley has its own water supply? The water comes from spring areas at the edge of the Fex glaciers, is of excellent quality and can be enjoyed without any treatment. With the dramatic retreat of the "eternal" ice, our water reserves are also diminishing. Savour every single sip and use it sparingly. Thank you!
Garden – In our herb and vegetable garden, we grow the ingredients for our homemade iced tea, edible flowers for plate decoration, and hardy vegetables for the wonderful dishes from our kitchen. Not every vegetable thrives at 1,940 metres above sea level – but those that do will find their way onto your plate in one form or another. Enjoy!
Housekeeping – The choice is yours. Would you like your room cleaned daily? Simply let us know – red = no; green = yes. For cleaning we use eco-friendly products from the "Frosch" brand and a steam cleaner by Avior Swiss.
Linen & Towels – Towels are changed once a week, or more frequently on request. If you would like to skip the bed linen change, just let us know – the Fex Valley will thank you for it.
